Halloween Photos- By Request

Hey there,

It's Heather here.

Mom (Paula) said you'd like to see the photos of Oliver (Pirate) and Meg(wacky witch) she had taken at PetSmart.

Here goes

Meg can't stand to look at the camera, but I'd say Oliver looks pretty Orlando Bloom-ish...for a dog that is.

Have a great evening,

Heather

Preview- Week 45 - Making Meals And Snacks More Satisfying

Let's figure out how to stay on track for the long haul, for life.

This is a lifestyle, not a diet.

We need to create variety and excitement in the food we eat and our eating experiences; to make meals both physically and visually satisfying.

During the holidays we generally dress up our tables and meals to make them more festive and exciting. But why not make every meal an enjoyable event?

What are your meals saying? Am I worth it? Does this taste good? Is this really satisfying? Is this an enjoyable experience I've created?

What tools can I use at home to create a satisfying and enjoyable eating experience, but save time, money and know that I am serving myself the proper portions without guessing or pulling out measuring cups and scales.

Check out -Weight Watcher's Easy Measure

There are three stainless steel serving spoons. Each set comes with a Cup, half cup and quarter cup serving spoon for easy portion control.

Just...$20.00

See you this week!!!

Let's Talk!

Paula

Week 43 Wrap Up - What are you really hungry for?

Remember that there is always a positive intention behind every emotional eating experience. The key, though, is to FEEL THE FEELINGS NOT FEED THE FEELINGS.

Take a moment and ask yourself what you are really feeling, what is that hunger? Emotional or physical?

For instance...I'm standing in front of the refrigerator. How did I get here? Why am I here? I just ate lunch!

Answer: I'm bored, lonely, tired, etc...

Satisfy this feeling with: calling a friend, going for a walk, taking up a craft or hobby, etc..

Food Finds - Week 45 2008

I purchased two kinds of low point brownie mixes this week from Fred Meyer's.

No Pudge Fudge Brownie Mix and Kodiak Cakes Big Bear Brownies Mix.

Both companies gave great low point recipe suggestions on the box. Such as: using yogurt or apple sauce as a substitute for oil.

These packaged brownies were already great choices, but because of the substitutions, that just made it even better.

Due to their low point values (1-2 points per serving), it's now a matter of taste.

Some of you may prefer the taste of one over the other.

Or possibly neither....

Has anyone else come across a great brownie mix find?

Do you have your own low point brownie recipe you'd like to share with us?

Sweet Halloween Tips

I always feel like knowledge is power. Though you may not be dressing up for the occasion you can still feel like a superhero instead of a ghoul when it comes to your candy intake during the Halloween holiday.

First...

Halloween Tips
*Buy candy you do not like and give that out
*Bag up candy in small treat bags so it is not loose and more tempting
*Have a plan for leftover candy - bring to work - send to school - send to work with someone else
*Don't stay at home - go to the movies or go out
*Figure out a plan - look up how many points a favorite candy is and work it into your day as a treat

The following list will help you count the little bits in your kids' Halloween bag or the bags of candy you buy at the store for your Trick or Treat'rs:

Exercise - No Fall Excuses

How is the exercise going now that it's gotten cold and rainy?

Even with the onset of Autumn, you can get outside without excuses; get the right gear. I've had my fleece jacket for some years, but noticed some water and wind resistant models now at Costco, Lands End, LLBean and REI. These are great light weight versions of a rain jacket/cold weather coats that do the job without the bulk.

I found Meg and Oliver's coats at the Whatcom Farmers Co-Op on Meridian Street.

What gets you motivated to move it outside when the weather changes?

Wraps And Chocolate- Food Find October 19, 2008

This is my first installment of Food Finds. Where I share with you some great food ideas I've found at our local grocery and specialty food stores. These items are points or core friendly and obviously tastes great.

This is a tortilla wrap I found at the Bakerview Fred Meyer's. It was located with the other tortillas in the ethnic food aisle. One wrap is 100 calories, 3 grams of fat and 12 grams of fiber. Remember you can only count 4 grams of fiber, but think of the bonus 8 grams you get for your health! This had really good flavor and holds together well. Great bread substitute. Figure out the points!

This is really a great chocolate treat for 1 point! Individually wrapped. This comes in dark chocolate and milk chocolate. 9 sticks to a box. I found this item at Walgreens in the candy aisle. One satisfies your chocolate fix.

Preview Wk 10/20/2008 - What Are You Hungry For?

WHAT ARE YOU REALLY HUNGRY FOR?

This is all about FEELING the FEELING not FEEDING the FEELING.

Are you hungry right now? Did you just eat lunch? Do you remember eating lunch? Are you sitting in front of the computer right now wondering how you got through that entire bag of Smartfood?

Take a step back and ask yourself how you are feeling? Are you in touch with how you feel? Or are you coping, sliding through your day looking for ways to feel full, feel satisfied.

It may not mean your body is hungry for food, but that you are hungry for something else.....

Wrap Up - Discover Steps and Lose For Good

Last week was all about DISCOVER STEPS.

This was the quote of the week, " Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do, then by the ones that you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

I would like to ask you - Have you DISCOVERED that preparing yourselves, asking for help, and learning from experience can get you your winning outcome?

What needs to happen for you to discover success this week?

Can taking these discover steps, take you closer to your own winning outcome?

The big thing is that you must have a winning outcome. Outcomes can be goals, goal weight, a particular size in clothing, learning a new exercise or activity. Be specific! Visualize yourself at your goal, doing the activities, or in the size of your dreams. Once you visualize it, you'll realize it.

LOSE FOR GOOD CAMPAIGN is now over.

Welcome to the blog

Welcome Members!

This is my experimental blog. I created this blog to stretch out the information provided in the weekly meetings. We only really have a half an hour together each week. There is so much to talk about and share.

This blog is not open to the general public. I have asked only Weight Watcher Members to join our blog, therefore providing you with a conversational environment similar to that at the our meeting centers.

As in our meetings, here in the blog, I encourage your feedback, questions and suggestions. So, please comment, comment comment. Share with one another! That's what our weekly meetings are about and I hope that this blog will be an extension of that creative and beneficial dialogue. Also, this will assist me in providing you content that you are really interested in reading.

Right now, I will share with you a summary or wrap up of the past week's meeting topic and give you a preview for the coming week. I will share with you food finds: foods found at our grocery and specialty stores here in Whatcom County. I will also give you more information about what you see at our meeting centers, like what new products are in, and what's happening.
